FRESH FLOWERS IN THE HOUSE

I always have fresh flowers in our home and I love to arrange them myself. Flowers add life, warmth, color and a subtle scent to any room.

I save LOTS of money by buying flowers at the Open Market every Saturday for half of what they cost in floral shops. I also save money by using only 2 to 3 flowers in some arrangements! You can see an arrangement using only two flowers that my mother loved, using her favorite, orchids and Hydrangeas on the next page!

Other ways I save money is to add a few artificial flowers and leaves to enhance and add more volume to the arrangements. “Michael’s Stores”, have many different varieties of flowers that look so real it’s hard to tell the difference. I have a bin full of beautiful flowers, leaves, pebbles, rocks, moss, and fun things I find on my morning walks like branches or unusual rocks for all seasons and occasions. I always wait for Michael sales when the flowers are 50% off, love that! http://www.michaels.com/

Here are some arrangements I did for my home!

The roses above are from my rose garden. The basket is something I had in the garage. I lined it with plastic, placed a floral foam brick that I soaked for 30 minutes so it absorbed lots of water and used scissors to cut the roses on an angle and arrange. Check the water every day to make sure the foam is soaked.

Fresh herbs to brighten up the table! Flowers from my neighbor’s Hydrangea Bush (I asked)
